ReplyDeleteThe point is, as always, to villify and demonize Israel as much as possible - regardless of the truth of the matter. Its not important to be accurate as long as Israel looks bad, is it?
The strategy calls for levelling as many accusations as possible against Israel, the more outlandish the better (organ harvesting, baby killing, etc). The hope being that some will stick and "turn" people to your cause. Its really kind of a sick game.
The goal is to erode public support of Israel in the US. By destroying the basic human-ness of Israel, the hope is that the US will ultimately deliver a south africa-like solution for the palestinians.
The problem is, Americans see Palestinians and their supporters as the ultimate "shrews" of the world -- incessant bellyachng and harping about others as the cause of ALL their problems. I can tell you that such claims fall mostly on deaf ears in the US. We are tired of it. We dont believe 95% of it. Some of it we see as necessary for Israel's defense. And some we recognize as vestiges of any long running conflict. Its not as if Palestinians havent engaged in their own abhorrent and criminal behavior.
The US and Israel are friends, and that will remain so. The Palestinian view of Israel as the ultimate bad guy is well known. We "get it". Yet its also why we ignore or dismiss claims by Palestinian supporters of "Israeli evil". The tune never changes, there is never any let up or perhaps even the slightest admonition that responsibility lies anywhere else than Israel. Same song, over and over again. Learn a new tune, maybe you will reach some new ears.

Arcane discussions arise like whether the Watusi used Hotentots as human shields in some civil war. When you start every sentence saying "the only nation", you are bound to be wrong somewhere....but, by the way, if other countries do engage in some of these practices, it does not let Israel off the hook.
