Children of a Rio favela
Hoping that reincarnation turns out to be the real deal so I can come back as a photojournalist. It isn't just that a photo is worth a thousand lies but that photos humanize what is usually dispassionately reported. This marvelous photo by Ruben Salgado Escudero is of children in a Rio de Janeiro favela now being "pacified"--that means under police occupation. By capturing the beauty of children around the world photojournalists contribute one of the most powerful weapons for international harmony & collaboration.
