Israel steals 90% of the Dead Sea's tributaries' water
Colonist pig enjoying the spoils
The looting is well advanced
The Palestinian civil environmental organizations Network confirmed that the percentage of diverted and transfered from the Dead Sea reached about 90% of its sources, and held Israeli occupation full responsibility for the deterioration of the dead sea conditions. The network said that Israel dug more than 100 wells to withdraw groundwater from nearby areas that feed the Dead Sea also, in addition to the establishment of factories to extract salts especially bromide, which is one of the main reasons behind the deterioration of the water level of the Dead Sea. Israel loots more than 650 million cubic meters of water annually from Tiberius Lake and the Jordan River, which feed the Dead Sea, in addition to establishing more than 18 projects to divert water of the Jordan River to the Israeli agricultural projects in the Negev desert; and transferred the water streams collecting rainwater in the valleys towards the colonies near the Dead Sea.
