The tough cookies of Bahrain
The women of Bahrain are out in force standing up ferociously against the US-backed regime to demand the release of jailed human rights activist Abdulhadi al-Khawaja. Al-Khawaja has been on hunger strike for two months now in Manama. Since he has dual citizenship, the government of Denmark requested he be released to their custody. Bahrain courts just denied that request despite his failing health. What ironic symmetry that behind the veil which became the symbol of Islamophobia is another tough cookie not cowed by the combined might of Bahraini riot police, Pakistani soldiers, Saudi tanks, & the US 5th fleet.
