Captivity does not become living creatures
This very sad little Mangabey monkey, born March 5th, at the Jardin des Plantes zoo in Paris, France was rejected by his mother & is being tended by a keeper. He is part of the European breeding of endangered species program (EEP). Such maternal rejections may happen in the wild but are more likely for stressed captive animals. Rejected animals remain vulnerable to illness & subject to early death since they often don’t develop & never really recover from the emotional wound no matter how much loving attention is given them by human caretakers. In a humane society, zoos will be outlawed. (Photo by Kenzo Tribouillard/AFP)
