Mousavi and..."the neoliberal bastard"

A colleague and friend sent me this (she/he does not want to be identified): "Mousavi was (along with a couple of other major "reformists") were hotheaded rightwing Islamists back in the 1980s, and Mousavi in particular was responsible for purging universities of lefties, Jews, and Bahaiis. the other two people most associated with this same move from being university purgers to radical reformists are Abdulkarim Sorush and MohsenKadviar. The former is a philosopher and the latter a cleric, both of whom have very sophisticated arguments (the former based on Gadamer's hermeneutics; the latter based on his extensive training and certification as a faqih) about separating the mosque from the state. All three were involved with the early purges and now face the same fate...the other thing is that although Ahmadinejad has very populist rhetoric he
is actually a neoliberal bastard economically, so...."

  1. If we strip away the fact that Iran is a revolutionary religious state, what is going on in Iran is for the most part a class struggle, that is being stoked by greedy outsiders looking out for their selfish interests. It is a struggle between those leaders who are being labeled as the reformists and secularists that are largely representing the corrupted elite Iranians and being supported by the West, and those leaders who are being labeled as non-moderate religious conservatives that are largely representing and being supported by the less fortunate Iranians and also largely being recognized as legitmite by the West's challengers in the region .....

    CROWDSOUCING CYBER WARFARE IN IRAN

"Activists had encouraged anti-government protesters to use automatic web page refresh tools such as Pagereboot.com, to hit government run site. But they have also developed custom DoS tools. One such tool, called BWRaeper was posted to an Iranian sports discussion forum on Monday. Others are being promoted via Twitter and blogs, and hosted by activists in the US."

  13. I don't wanna do anything, As far as JP articles, why, even your comrades have posted links to the Jerusalem Post when it suits their purposes. Get a grip.
You must be a real treat in cell meetings. Too bad you weren't around for China's Cultural Revolution or Pol Pot's little reworking of Cambodia. You would have relished that wouldn't you?

  14. I just though I would ask, in refernece to the above links, does anyone think anything has changed? As far as American policy in this part of the world (and elsewhere among other "thrid world" countries for that matter)?

  16. The question that must be asked is simple - do you think that the Israelis use this infleunce in the the media only to paint what they want regarding the Israeli/Palestinian issue, or do they extend it to other areas of their interest like painting horrible pictures of, oh...Iran? I'll leave that to your own judgement

  17. Secondly, do you believe all of the covert programs that were initiated under the Bush administration against Iran were halted under the Obama administration? There is a telling way to find out - part of these programs was a massive media campaign, has this ceased? No, so the underbelly, which Obama likes to employ trying to roll back the overt in favor of the covert has not stopped. There are many other ways to imflame target nations rather than overt actions, and you can count on a more covert "intelligent" approach from this currnt administration, which can prove to be just as deadly.
