Obama won’t wink back - By Uri Avnery

"Remember Dov Weisglass? The one who said that peace must wait until the Palestinians become Finns? Who talked about preserving the peace process in formaldehyde? However, Weisglass will mainly be remembered less for his mouth than his eyes. Weisglass is the King of the Wink.

This week, Binyamin Netanyahu called him in for urgent consultations. He needed a lesson in “working with the eyes” (as cheating is called in modern Hebrew slang). Winking is the main instrument of the settlement enterprise. The wink is the real father of the settlements. The settlers wink. The government winks. Officials don’t issue a permit, but wink. They say no, and wink. Wink and build. Wink and connect to electricity and water. Wink and send soldiers to protect the outposts, and also remove the Palestinians from adjoining fields and olive groves."

  6. I don't think so. Not this time. There is a real change taking place about this whole issue. Israel is no longer above criticism in the U.S.  Even Fox News had a segment on a book about the attack of the U.S.S. Liberty.

  8. Yeah, I like how you latch so swiftly on to this vza - as if just a little wave of Obama's hand will change all things. You have this habit of settling on surface apperances, almost like this blind faith. It is almost infantile, like a baby being attracted to a shiny object.  This is part of the reason why you are moved to such spurious views.  You need to learn to slow down, and stop swallowing everything this skewed media delivers to you. Having said all of that, don't get me wrong, I hope you are right, but I seriously doubt it.

  9. Yeah, I like how you latch so swiftly on to this vza - as if just a little wave of Obama's hand will change all things, or like these Zionist reprobates are so capable of 360 degree change (part of this is due to your implicit surrender to the image that these individuals are so much better). 11. <span>"The United States made clear that it is dissatisfied with this Israeli policy and wants Jerusalem to reevaluate its stance. "Until you change this, it will be impossible to progress," a source quoted the American officials as saying."

"This policy has not led to progress on the Shalit case and we do not think that it is contributing to anything," the U.S. officials were quoted as saying."</span>

  12. Of course, the other issue is believing that Obama really gives a damn...lol  I really hate to say it that way, but when the Palestinians were being bombed he did not say anything and essentially just told them to get it over with before the inauguration. I do not hold out too much hope when things begin like that.
