The indomitable women of Bahrain: (On top) a democracy protestor protects herself from the excessive police use of tear gas with a scarf which reads “Ready to die for Bahrain”. This was last March in the town of Sanabis, west of Manama, when riot cops attacked protestors.
(On bottom) democracy protestors shouting demands & facing off against tear gas attempt to enter al-Eker, a village south of Manama on October 22. A week earlier, seven people had been detained over the killing of a cop in al-Eker & police were blocking off the town. It was reported ‘clashes broke out’ (that is, riot cops attacked protestors) near al-Eker when rights activists & medics tried to enter the town.
