Contribute to Caravana de Madres Centroamericanas (Caravan of Central American Mothers)

Mothers from the Caravana de Madres Centroamericanas (Caravan of Central American Mothers) hold photos of their disappeared children during a special mass at the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City on Sunday, October 28th. The caravan of 60 mothers is to investigate & put a spotlight on the crimes committed against immigrants on their journey through Mexico to the US. Although it is legal for Central American immigrants to travel through Mexico, it is one of the most dangerous migration routes in the world & thousands are assaulted, raped, kidnapped, murdered, disappeared.

The Movimiento Migrante Mesoamericano (MMM) is the Mexican immigration rights group organizing the Caravana which has visited the sites of immigrant massacres & mass graves, shelters & hostels along the way which provide help to immigrants (& which are under frequent assault), & followed the rails of the infamous La Bestia, the freight train immigrants are forced to ride north. MMM has organized rallies & speak-outs at universities & other venues where the mothers have told about their children & about their loss--& brought attention to immigration as a human right.

MMM, like any activist organization, is not rolling in dough & the Caravana relies on contributions from those who support immigrant rights. They are a reputable organization. If you want to support their work & contribute to the Caravana you can send a Money Order to:
Martha Fernanda Sanchez Soler
Gabriel Mancera 1817 - 201
Colonia del Valle Sur
Delegacion Benito Juarez
Mexico, DF 03100

It is best to send it after November 4th, when the caravan ends, since they will be back in their offices.
