Hunger strike for immigrant rights in Berlin

This photo is of the hunger strike protest 20 Afghan & Irani immigrants are holding in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin demanding legal residency--which is sparingly allocated in Fortress Europe. The growing combativeness of undocumented immigrants, particularly the young, is a matter of concern to governments around the world. These immigrants risk detention & deportation to stand  up for their rights. That is also an important development in the US, with thousands of undocumented youth protesting immigration laws. This is a remarkable & inspiring development. If these Afghan & Irani immigrants just lie low, they won’t risk deportation but they have chosen to stand & fight.   Our fullest solidarity with them.
