The surveillance state
The hairy eyeball of the surveillance state: Orwell wouldn’t have imagined a homeland security gone so wild--with a growth industry in snooping & prowling through people’s status updates & underwear drawers. They work undercover for the same reason vampires do & they're terrified of crowds which serve the same function as garlic & stakes for vampires. (This wall mural in Sevastopol, Ukraine is no longer a metaphor.) (Reuters photo)
