The accident happened in October last year. The court found that she had failed to keep a safe distance from the car ahead of her.
Several cars were involved in the accident, English-language daily The National reports. The paper says the woman's vehicle was hit by the car following hers when she braked suddenly.
The female foetus died after the umbilical cord was cut.
Dubai's traffic court ordered the bereaved mother to pay US$5,450 in blood money and fined her for "unintentional homicide".
Salah Bu Farousha, head of traffic prosecution, said women in the third trimester of pregnancy should avoid driving altogether to protect their own and their foetuses' lives.

And in case there are some Americans wondering,,,,
ReplyDeleteNo this has nothing to do with Islam.
No,but it's an Arab country Saif.
ReplyDeleteNow let's see the Gate keepers go on auto pilot mode.
So sad.
ReplyDeleteThis is obviously a paranoid and ignorantly driven Arab country that would decide to do such a thing ...
ReplyDeleteI remember when I was living in Saudi, a report came out in the Saudi english "Arab News " that claimed a study was done in Saudi to find out what was the primary cause of car accidents in the "kingdom", and guess who the report determined was behind the majority of car accidents there?
Women of course, who are not even allowed to drive there, LOL!
According to the report women caused most accidents because they walk around at night wearing black abayas(Gee I wonder who made that a law in Saudi and why women would prefer to go out at night rather than during the hot desert Saudi day wearing their black abayas with their faces completely covered) which causes the men driving at night to have a hard time seeing them. Also because women tend to argue with their sons and husbands while driving, or because they give their chauffeurs wrong directions, LOL!
When I lived in Saudi we saw many cars on the side of the road that had been in accidents and from what I was able to determine, it was mostly young boys and men with little experience, who were driving too fast and crazy which caused accidents there...I used to see boys at very young ages driving their Mothers and sisters around. And from what I have gathered, these boys for the most part do not even get formal training before they get out on the roads...
I never understood why some ignorant trash thinks that women driving has something with Islam,,,
ReplyDeleteYaani can you imagine how that poor women felt after losing her baby and then being blamed by some ignorant dogs of being responsible?
ReplyDeleteI like Dubai. Too bad they totally messed with this woman.
ReplyDeleteLosing an unborn baby . . . so sad.
