Why Are Record Numbers of U.S. Soldiers Committing Suicide?

The U.S. military is grappling with a record number of soldier suicides. At least 13 soldiers took their lives last month. That’s down from the 24 military suicides in January and 18 in February, but still in line with the most number of suicides since record-keeping began. As many as 143 soldiers reportedly took their own lives last year.

  1. Oh, I am afraid the suicides are much more than this current report -

  2. I have said in previous posts that this war is specifically targeted against civilians, normal people like you and I - not hardened resistance, women and children bear the brunt. All you have to do is look at the "rules of engagement," and realize that there are now over a million Iraqis dead. Men subjected to this type of brutality, the commission of these acts, a part of them dies in the acts. All that they thought they have lived for flashes before their eyes, their knowledge of no reason for the atrocity of this war eats them up alive. All that they lived for, that they thought they stood for, melts before their eyes, and they face revolving door policies back to the hell this administration created. These are the figures, these suicides of an unnecessary war of aggression. There is only one question remaining, if this happens to those who can leave, WHAT DOES IT DO TO THOSE WHO REMAIN AND LIVE IN THIS ENVIRONMENT?

  3. Not all went to serve the empire ,many thought and signed for an adventure that surely couldn't last more than a few months, instead ended up in a ambiguous nasty war for what seems to be eternity in Iraq.(Remember Mission Accomplished ?)
In the future the most powerful military may well find itself without sufficient numbers to operate the overstretched might of it's war machine.
and will resort to cowboys, and mercenaries. I don't believe soldiers willingly give up their lives for unnecessary illegitimate causes.
