Look how this rag(The Wall Street Journal) explains the "shift" in Turkey's attitude..Well of course! Because it's "Islamist":
Ankara's Islamist government is turning away from the Western alliance.

It's more,Tgia, than Turkey's shift away from Israel. I suggest you look beyond your core issue. If you were a Turk with the beliefs you have, and don't have, you might be just a wee bit alarmed yourself. I have friends in Turkey and they are not taking these developments with such a blthe spirit.
ReplyDeleteThan speculating from you're narrow views and the friendships you would have, I am not surprised they are alarmed
ReplyDeleteOh now that's a real argument, v. How clever of you!
ReplyDeleteCould that be a reaction to what's going around them?
ReplyDeleteTGIA, Turks are very different from Arabs or Persians. The Turkish world view is very different.
ReplyDeleteFor example, it often seems like the only issue in Iraq they care about is Kurdistan.
I don't agree that Turkey is turning against the "West." The opposite I would say. If Turkey isn't western, then I don't know what western means. Turkey wants in the European Union. But racist Europeans, including Germans and French, are blocking Turkey's accession. In my view this is immoral and wrong. Oh how the European empires have fallen.
