Update on Bangladesh garment factory colapse

These people are holding up photos of their daughters, sons, sisters, brothers, wives, husbands who are among 332 still missing from The Rana Plaza garment factory collapse in late April. The missing range in age from child workers to middle aged.

Media reports say the Bangladeshi government & foreign garment retailers are “campaigning” (no less) to close dangerous factories & prioritize safety in the the garment industry. Cry me a river of baloney!  The US State Department which usually adjudicates sweatshop agreements around the globe is issuing edicts against Bangladesh while the government of Bangladesh is issuing ritual protests against the sanctions. We are being fed baloney on a drumstick! So enough already with the baloney! The US State Department which fronts for US business is embarrassed by the catastrophe in Bangladesh & is making a run for cheaper sweatshops in other countries (like Cambodia & Haiti).

The sweatshop production system is fully sanctioned by governments in the predatory countries in collusion with the elites in colonized countries. It makes a handful of unscrupulous predators mighty damn rich--but it devastates the magnificent lives of thousands of working people. The protestors in Savar, Bangladesh are our brothers & sisters in struggle & like us deserve the highest labor standards.
How can we ever express strongly enough our solidarity with their struggles!?
