Egypt: Cairo University death toll rises to 18

The death toll from clashes in front of Cairo University has risen to 18, a security source has told Ahram Online. The clashes also left 367 injured.

Clashes erupted in the area hours before President Morsi's televised address on Tuesday night in which he defied calls to step down, citing his democratic legitimacy.
Pro-Morsi demonstrators had gathered outside the university in Giza late on Monday night in response to millions-strong opposition rallies.
Four died before the speech and 14 died after an exchange of gunfire between pro- and anti-Morsi protesters following the speech.
