Housing is a human right! Predation is not.

Last Monday, military cops evicted 223 families, including 250 children, from the Jacobo Arbenz housing settlement in Guatemala City. Homeless families created the settlement last January on vacant lots owned by the Defense Ministry & located in front of a military base. With no place to go after eviction, the families moved to the adjacent road areas. On Wednesday, military & city cops returned to force them to move on. Here, Elsy Castillo & her 8-year-old daughter Dairl react with appropriate horror & fear. The ruthless & callous disregard for human life exhibited by the ruling elite is creating a culture of violence that can no longer be allowed to prevail. Housing is a human right. Predation is not.
