Crazy-assed lies

Especially prior to the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, kids in the US grew up with a whole range of racist, xenophobic, & just plain crazy-assed lies about peoples from around the world. Our educational system & often our religious educations were a cornucopia of racist deceits which the powerful Civil Rights Movement blew out of the water (no matter how strongly some still cling to them). They were paltry fictions, like the pagan babies of Africa, Muslims not respecting human life like Christians, & the most banal of all--only Americans loved pets. Even Europeans got indicted in this one. Nobody else was as caring about domestic animals as we were. Dozens of photos from massive flooding around the world put the lie to that pet thing & good riddance to it. They show people going to great lengths to rescue not just livestock but pets.
