Neoliberal waste management

Waste management is considered a superfluous social service under neoliberalism so this small boy has to cool off on a hot day in the the polluted waters of Manila Bay in the Philippines. Plastic & paper debris being eaten by fish & birds is bad enough but the raw sewage contaminates & spreads disease, including to small children. Degradation of the environment which imperils animal & human life is a feature of the plunder which places oligarchic wealth over the welfare of humans & all living things.  (Photo by Cheryl Ravelo/Reuters)
