Families of prisoners burned to death in Comayagua, Honduras don't believe government's official story
These are the faces of relatives of the 357 men who burned to death in the prison fire in Comayagua, Honduras. They are now gathering the remains of their loved ones from the morgue for burial. They reject the Honduran government’s official explanation that a crazed inmate set fire to his bedding & believe their brothers, fathers, sons were deliberately incinerated. Although the media initially reported the prisoners were murderers & drug traffickers, it is now known over half of them were only suspected of crimes and incarcerated without due process. This crime demands an investigation & the prosecution of all who were involved. An investigation would include why the near by US military facility with search & rescue & fire squads did not respond to the fire. We need to collaborate on how best to help our brothers & sisters win justice for this monstrous crime. (Photo by Orlando Sierra)
