Israel places Marwan Barghouti in solitary confinement

RAMALLAH: The Israeli Prisons Service (IPS) placed the jailed Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti in solitary confinement, Palestinian sources said on Thursday.

The move came after the jailed leader urged the Palestinians to take to the streets in September to support the Palestinian leadership in its bid obtain recognition of an independent state from the United Nations.
