A survey to satisfy my curiousity

Can the Americans that are not Muslim tell me how this picture of Palestinian girls makes them feel?

165 comments:

  1. It makes me feel that the boys and men should also be covered up. Hijab and all those wrappings in the hot weather! Fair is fair.
NO child should be wrapped up like that. Children should be running free with the wind in their hair, giggling, and unencumbered by such restrictions.

  2. It makes me wonder what Hamas would do to them if they decided they didn't want to be wrapped up in so many layers.

    Also, I agree with VZA.

Seen one way, it's certainly the first significant recognition from the Pentagon that the United States, the former "sole superpower" and planetary sheriff, has actually entered a universe of limits, even when it comes to the previous sacrosanct and ever soaring military budget. Think of it as a signal directly from Washington... that the glory days are on the wane.

  4. It is only just beginning. Prepare for a long hot summer:
With the massive widening in corporate-bond spreads last fall, the economists' model predicts industrial production will fall another 17% by the end of the year, and the economy will lose another 7.8 million jobs on top of the 5.1 million it has shed since the recession began.

  5. A long hot summer...
The S&P 500 has soared 23 per cent in the last four weeks, but the current bear market rally is misleading. The prospects for a quick recovery are remote at best. The fundamentals are all weak. Corporate profits are down, GDP is negative 6 per cent, housing is in a shambles, and the banking system broken. The Fed has increased the money supply by 22 percent, but economic activity is at a standstill. The velocity at which money is being spent is the slowest since 1987. Nothing is moving.

  6. It makes me sad knowing all that they suffer.

  7. Hmmm. I see it different. I like the pictures. They seem to be very nice looking and cultured clothes. I like how intensely everyone seems to be studying.

From the picture, it looks like it might be cold; in which case the choice of clothes is good.

In many ways 3arab are better than the rest of us. :-)

VZA you have a good point. Men should be as covered up as woman. Fair is fair.

Mara, the defense budget remains a far smaller than it was 1950-1991.

The US army has 10 divisions. Rumsfeld wanted to reduce it to 8 divisions but was blocked. By comparison the Iraq Army has 14 divisions. The North Korean army is larger than the US army. The Chinese and Indian armies are far larger. Even Turkey's army is larger than the US army with 9 army Corps HQs.

  8. C.H., not all women in Palestine are covered, Although, I have been told that in Gaza, some of the Palestinian Christian women wear a scarf when they go out now, so they won't get hassled by the nuts but no one is forced to cover.

    ReplyDelete
  9. ...and I also admire them for going on with their lives and studies in the face of all the odds. It makes me think they may just withstand everything Israel throws at them.

  10. Mara, good point on the sharp reduction in velocity of the money supply. It is the lowest on record at the moment.

However, did you see the Well's Fargo news yesterday? The earnings stunned everyone.

  11. I dont understand the question. Muslim girls reading (the koran?) in a field. So what. But then again, Im a guy, and dont express my feelings well anyway :)

Wearing those getups does seem hot and uncomfortable, like VZA said.

I never thought outdoor classes worked. You could never hear that well, there wasnt something hard to write on, and the bugs were a nuisance.

  12. Yep, this certainly builds confidence:

April 10 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. Federal Reserve has told Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Citigroup Inc. and other banks to keep mum on the results of “stress tests” that will gauge their ability to weather the recession, people familiar with the matter said.

I'm curious: How do you feel about breast implants, high heels, make up, tight clothes, and other things American women endure to be accepted into our culture here. You spend so much time making judgments about a culture you have no experience with(besides possibly as a tourist), that I guess you never had a chance to comment about a culture you have some first hand experience with.

  15. Marcatu craves, like no one I know, for severe economic calamity to befall the US. It motivates and animates him. You can tell he obsesses about it.

Bad news FOR HIM is that even if we get whacked good, the US will still be the biggest kid on the block.

Need I remind: Germany and Japan were utterly and completely defeated and destroyed 60 years ago. Today Japan is the second largest economy in the world, and Germany is the world's largest exporter.

The US didnt get where it is by accident. Everybody and everything experiences ups and downs. We are no different.

  16. Well first of all those girls are in Dafaa not in Gazza so they aren't afraid of taking anything off because of Hamas. Second there are women that dont wear hijab in Gazza and Hamas never did any thing to them; my sister and niece do not wear hijab and nobody from Hamas ever made that request from them.
Why did I ask the question? Just wanted to identify the judgements that some people here will make about Islam, women, and all those things.
I thought it was a beautiful picture.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh no! I agree with Akhi Saif! This is horrible! :-(

    ReplyDelete
  18. By the way, in Islam men are also supposed to be covered up. How many pictures of Arab men wearing shorts do you see? The beard is a form of covering up also but when you people see beards they frighten you.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Im not your brother Anand and dont ever call me that again.

    ReplyDelete
  20. All human beings are brothers and sisters (even the Takfiris, although they are mentally challenged.)

A true devil like Saddam Hussein and Uday only happen one in a million if that.

I like to call people brother and sister. Especially if that irritates them ;-)

Remember the worlds of Swami Vivekananda in 1983 in the US:
    "brothers and sisters of America."

"in Islam men are also supposed to be covered up. How many pictures of Arab men wearing shorts do you see? The beard is a form of covering up also but when you people see beards they frighten you." Oh no! A factually correct statement. The beard is a form of covering up. In practice though, muslim men dress less modestly than woman even though the Koran places the same instructions for men and woman. Woman are more spiritual!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Who is frightened by beards?

I don't think Akhi TGIA, Ukhti Molly, Ukhti VZA, Ukhti Yasmin, or Akhi Mojo are frightened by beards.

Palestinian girls sit together as they read the Quran, during a picnic in a garden in the West Bank town of Nablus, Friday, April 10, 2009.
    (AP Photo/Nasser Ishtayeh)

It is a picnic in a beautiful area with many trees and flowers, there are not many places like that in Palestine that the Israelis did not Steal or Destroy. When I saw this picture it made me feel some pain and anguish that all the people in Palestine can not enjoy there land and go to a picnic in our beautiful country but I felt happy to see that there are some girls that are still enjoying there land. When the Americans see that picture all that they saw was oppression and viels. This is why I cant wait to go back to my home even if I am going back to refugee camp. I am so sick of the mentality here.

Awesome. I love reading religious books while having a picnic in a garden. The scenery there was beautiful.

Long clothes a useful for picnics when it is cold and to avoid insects and allergies. I don't see why some don't like their clothes. I think their clothes are nice. :-)

"When the Americans see that picture all that they saw was oppression and viels." Not true. I am an American and I didn't see that. Nor do a lot of other Americans that I know.

America is a beautiful country. ;-) How could someone not love it. The Bay Area is especially nice with so many foreigners!

  24. Joe of course I dont categorize you with some of the other people that gave there opinions and so far you never said any thing offensive. I enjoy your comments.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Really Anand just shut the hell up. You truly are an ignorant person or you have a severe medical problem that only gives you memory for 1 week before you forget everything and Start Over with the same ridiculous questions, I am very tired of reading your opinions about Islam and nice clothes and all the other stupidity that makes you sound incredibly Ignorant.

    ReplyDelete
  26. "I'm curious: How do you feel about breast implants, high heels, make up, tight clothes, and other things American women endure to be accepted into our culture here."

Oh my, more straw men designed to cast Joe as the noble one.
I do not endure anything because of popular culture. That's how I feel. What is "in" has no interest for me. I dress for comfort and what pleases me.

"You spend so much time making judgments about a culture you have no experience with(besides possibly as a tourist),.."
I had to splice that last one into two parts, Joe because it is such a gem.
I have spent plenty of time in the Middle East and have connections of family there!

"... that I guess you never had a chance to comment about a culture you have some first hand experience with."

Yeah, you're right, Joe. I've NEVER had a chance to comment on the culture I live in......Too silly for words. Either you are trying to be funny or you really are clueless.
    Unreal.

  27. Some of the reactions here do not surprise me. The photo and the girls are beautiful

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh no. Akhi V agrees with me too. I need to get myself examined. ;-)

Joe, your comments to VZA were a little silly. Dude, guys don't talk about these things with Gals. We just say whatever the Gals where is beautiful. Joe, you need some serious education on woman.

I thought the clothes in the picture were beautiful (for real . . . and not just because guys are suppose to say that.)

It seems one person here is intimidated by a towering intellect. Fear not. You can become even smarter, more sophisticated and knowledgeable than me. I believe in you ;-)

How about an intelligence competition. How about I send you some vector calculus problems and you send me some. Let us see who comes on top.

  29. Saif,

I don't think what you are saying is completely true...while not all women are forced to cover up, the West Bank and especially Gaza are moving towards just that.

As I told you last week, I have a friend who visited Nablus and Jenin last year and she was horrified at the number of women who were covered up...it had changed since the last time she was there in 2000, when a secular way of life was dominant.

    ReplyDelete
  30. If a woman wants to cover up, why is that a bad thing? She has a right to wear what she wants.

    ReplyDelete
  31. vza:

You have a perfect record: Once again you have avoided answering a question I asked you:

How do you feel about breast implants, high heels, make up, tight clothes, and other things American women endure to be accepted into our culture here?

I guess by this time I should know it is a waste of time to ask you a direct question. But you should know that your hypocrisy is showing.

    ReplyDelete
  32. C.H. is your friend a Palestinian or a Jew???

Also please tell me more about the things that I am saying that are not true. You are a 19 year old American boy that never went to Palestine, you are a Nazi Supporter of Netanyahu who is a Nazi and who chose another Nazi Liberman as his partner in crime. You have an AA degree which I believe they only give those at Community Colleges, so please educate me more on Palestine with all your knowledge and wisdom and first hand accounts from your friend who is either a traitor for befriending you if she is Arab or a Jewish settler scum.

    ReplyDelete
  33. anand, how about i send you some simple addition. This would reflect your grasp of humanity at its true level

  38. I don't know, I like the picture. It gives me a peaceful feeling. The girls look happy and peaceful and the field of flowers is beautiful. I love the serious, studious looks on the girls' faces. I don't know anything about where it was taken, if the girls are Palestinians (and if so, this moment of peace is all the more poignant). That was and is my first reaction. Is there something I'm missing?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Actually Saif, I am a 23 year old who has spoken to both Israelis and Palestinians many times. My friend is a Palestinian Christian and she was outraged by the treatment of her people by the Hamas thugs running around the community.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I just re-read that and saw that yes, you said they are Palestinian. Again I reiterate my point that this represents a rare moment of peace and tranquility for these girls and of something beyond guns and oppression.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anand,

I agree with you...my problem is when Palestinians like Saif post pictures of "their" women wrapped up in half a dozen layers and then go off on anyone who says it looks wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I should say that my friend is a Palestinian Christian who lives in the USA, but her two visits to the West Bank in the last 10 years were vastly different from one another.

So he has. To tell you the truth, I skip over his comments most of the time because I can't tell if he is serious or just pretending to be innocently offensive. I'm in a long term relationship, so I don't need advice on how to meet "gals"-least of all from him. Also, enough "gals" have complained to me about the things I mentioned to vza, that I know dress and appearance is very much an issue here.

Also, I didn't even consider the religious nature of the picture. Does that mean I failed the test? I just saw a group of girls reading. And the fact they are able to lead somewhat of a normal life under occupation I found admirable. There are actually a lot of women who dress in hijabs around where I live, and I never even realized it until the topic was discussed on Asa'ad's blog. To me they were just part of the neighborhood.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Our Joe. The answer was there as plain as the silliness of your comment.
I AM a woman and quite clearly stated that I do NOT endure ANYTHING for the sake of what is "IN". I dress for comfort and what pleases me. I make it a cardinal rule to not share much more than that when I know I am being set up.
You should consider a discussion for the sake of discussion, not as a means to score points and make yourself look good.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Than there are people like me, who look good whether they are trying to score points or not...lol

  46. Your friend is a liar and so are you. You are a 23 year old child with ignorant opinions of place you never travel to. Most of what you read is from Rush Limbagh, Bill o'Rielly and other criminal media sources that make you feel that your ignorance is really intelligence. You said you talked to many Palestinians that are in agreement with you and I really dont think so, one Palestinian collaborator that is willing to agree with you on anything is not a sample population of all the Palestinian Christian people who are my neighbors and who dont think the way you or your stupid friend think.

    Palestinian Christians support Hamas
    http://antiimpmedia.wordpress.com/2009/01/31/palestinian-christians-support-hamas/

Hamas stages Gaza rally in solidarity with Jerusalem Christians
Gaza – Ma’an – The Hamas movement staged a rally in Gaza on Tuesday in solidarity with Palestinian Christians and residents of Jerusalem.

Hamas said the rally, which took place in front of the Al-Awda Mosque in Jabaliya, reaffirmed the holiness of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary, and was in protest of repressive Israeli policies in Jerusalem. The demonstration was attended by Hamas officials from the northern Gaza branch of the movement.

Hamas spokesman Tal’at Al-Majdalawi said, “The movement will always defend the religions and God’s prophets, and will always stand by the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem.”

The demonstration comes days after news that Israeli authorities ordered 1,500 Palestinians to leave their homes in the Bustan neighborhood of Jerusalem.

Hamas: no Sharia, "Christian brothers" are full citizens
    by Abou Mahmud
The fundamentalist movement, winners of Palestinian elections, speaks to AsiaNews of their plans to build a "civil government", makes great offers of brotherhood towards Christians, and is planning to meet with the Patriarchs and is seeking contact with the Vatican.

And yes many Christians did vote for Hamas
... "To be honest, I don't like Hamas," said Suha Alyatim, 19, a Christian college student in Bethlehem. "I told my parents, "Maybe they will make us dress like they do and have boys and girls go to school separately."'

But a surprising number of Christians - including boutique owner Siaman and her husband - voted for Hamas on the premise all Palestinians are united in the struggle against Israel.

"When Israel targeted us with missiles, it didn't differentiate between Christians and Muslims," said Johnny Siaman, whose family had to move to a hotel after their home was hit three years ago.

"Hamas is part of the Palestinian nation, and they are resisting what Israel did to us."

  48. Hey Chief Kharra the other day on Mojos blog you were saying how you are proud that you respect Islam and proud that you visited a mosque and saw prayers and proud how Tolerant you are. Can you tell me then when you saw a picture of Muslim girls reading the Quran you felt sad that they are dressed in a "dozen" layers? Do you think those Muslim girls should dress the way you think it is acceptable for a devout Muslim girl to dress? So you support all those criminals like Netanyahu that steal there land and Liberman the fascist but you still have got the ability to feel sad because they are choosing to wear a "dozen" layers??
Im so glad that you learned so many things from that mosque you went to observe how Muslims pray, you seem to have walked away from that experience with alot of understanding about Islam. Or did you get your understanding for Islam from the Community College that you got your AA degree from?

    ReplyDelete
  49. vza:

I wasn't asking about you personally, I was asking how you felt about the cultural expectations that most women feel pressured to sacrifice comfort and expense to live up to. Apparently, you are only able to formulate an opinion about other cultures.

And since you mention comfort, the garb the girls are wearing in this picture looks a lot more comfortable than tight clothes and high heels.

  50. I saw these last night.Very beautiful photos

  51. Saif,

Let me be VERY clear on this...if a devout Muslim girl feels the need to wear all those layers, than that is very good for her. My problem is when governments and repressive family members force them to do so, and will cause them harm if they do not.

Not all Muslim girls wear the Hijab but that does not mean they are not devout followers of their religion.

    ReplyDelete
  52. C.H. you fucking clown do you think I need you to explain what Muslim girls do and dont do?
I see Mojo took you off his list of good people, thats an interesting development.
I thought he was your friend and so can you imagine some person that was your friend decided that you are no longer good people...
I think Mojo is probably alot more tolerant than I am for your type of stupidity and if he thinks you are just a garbage type person that likes to support criminals in Israel then you really are just one big failure.
Go back to college, real college, you did not learn enough with your AA degree.
Especially not in the US school system.

Yeah, that sure is working out great...so your telling me that all the money coming in from Bashir in Sudan and the Mullahs in Tehran is being used to boost literacy, right?...especially since those two donors are doing such an excellent job with that in their own countries.

I have every right to question your education and to make Fun of you because you are an ignorant Clown with an A.A. degree but you pretend you are an expert in the Middle East based on your findings from Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Rielly.
You never went to the Middle East, you did not Study the Middle East except for maybe one class you took at a Community College and you come to this blog to lecture Arabs and Molly about our opinions?
Go back and get an education about the things you are writting about you silly child. You are a 19 or 23 year old child with no real education and all you heard was from right wing racists. And you want to question the value of education in Gazza?
In Gazza I learned enough English to communicate with you on this blog and to leave my Refugee Camp and travel to different places in the world.

Palestinians have a 92.4% literacy rate, of course there is Always room for Improvement but we dont need money from Sudan or those other places to teach our people how to read. The Israelis have been restricting our right to an education for many decades with there illegal closures and criminal blockades but through the whole time we Palestinians still met at the teachers homes for our lessons and we still had massive riots in all the Israeli prisons so that we can have the right to take our matriculation exams for college. We get the highest scores in the Arab world. I think it is safe to say that the Palestinians risked there lives for there education more than you did Corey.

    ReplyDelete
  62. But I am sure you knew all about how hard Palestinians did fight for the right of education Corey. I dont want to confuse people here and that they will think I have bad feelings for the people in the world that did not have the chance or ability to go to college.

That's how you react to Palestinians who dare to criticize Hamas, eh Saif? At least you aren't calling for their legs to be smashed with sticks like your sh*thead leaders in Gaza city do.

The shit head leaders in Gazza called for the knees to be broken of Criminals who were setting many places on fire in Gazza and conducting alot of criminal behavior at the request of Mohammad Dahlan who is working very closely with Israel and the United States.
Those people that you are feeling sorry for are blamed for a lot of the destruction that Israel brought to Gazza because they are collaborators.

"And since you mention comfort, the garb the girls are wearing in this picture looks a lot more comfortable than tight clothes and high heels."

This "Joe" character is really a most feckless individual. He loves to attack and critique western/US culture and society as if HIS values are superior. As if he sits on high while the rest of us wallow in filth and slime. As if there is someone or somebody controlling it, as if there is a master switch one could push or pull to change it. If only we could turn the world on its head, huh Joe, so that the beautiful are ugly and the ugly beautiful, or so that the fat are admired and the healthy scorned! :)

Joe, such comments are inane and banal. They are not incisive, and do not not reveal you as someone full of biting wit and sarcasm. You have not uncovered great truths of which we are all too scared to face. You do not give us pause, or cause anyone to question anything of any consequence. You come across as a nasty, angry little person whose own life is rather meaningless and dull, and so chooses to put the blame on society instead of himself.

Besides, the only place I know you can regularly find women in the USA in tight clothes and high heels is cocktail bars and strip joints. Other than that women just dont go round like that - unless perhaps they have a "killer bod", want some male attention and then its THEIR CHOICE. Their choice. Last time I checked, only the far religious right types wanted to impose their so-called moral authority on the rest of us? Have you been "saved" recently Joe??? :) :)

Joe, you are such a feckless little twit. You have had beers wtih 5 ex-soldiers and now believe you have enough information to demand the complete overhaul of the american military and its teaching methods. Even though you have never served, even though you havent taken a statistical valid sample, and even though you dont know anything at all about the US Military. You know better than all the men and women who have led our military over hundreds of years to make it the strongest and most capable in the world. Yea, right.

BTW, American society or culture does not REQUIRE a woman to have breast implants. This is clearly evidenced by the fact that most american women DO NOT have breast implants -- and that no one has ever been beaten up for NOT having breast implants, or for NOT wearing high heels. Tell me, do you think a woman, anywhere in the world, has ever been beaten up for NOT wearing the hijab?

I wasn't putting any value judgment on women's fashion in America. I was merely relating some complaints I have heard several women make, and was wondering since vza had so many opinions about how women are expected to dress on the other side of the world, did she have any opinion about how women are expected to dress here. Rather than answer, she chose to don a turban and attempt to read my mind. Unfortunately, she was as useless at mind reading as she is at answering a question directly. You, on the other hand, are quite free with discussing women's clothing, perhaps because you have some first hand experience with it. If that is the case, I must defer to your opinion. Saturday night is one night away-I bet you can't wait to try out your new ensemble on the boys.

  83. Saif, the first thing I thought upon seeing the picture is, oh, god, the Israelis demolished their school, I bet. The second thought is what a beautiful meadow. I don't like seeing girls under 16 in hijabs either, but I am used to it, as I live in a Arab neighborhood.

Oh, and by the way, Fleming, if you think women don't go around wearing tight clothes, I guess you've never been to NYC!

    ReplyDelete
  84. No one should have to wear a hijab against their will, that's my opinion on the subject.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Tight clothes are not a crime! Unless maybe on the "wrong kind of body". :)

What about the pants some kids wear that hang down below their butts? Now society tells me Im supposed to dress like that to be cool, right? And guess what? I dont! I do not wear ass level pants. Imagine, me, having the will power to flaunt society's attempts to "make me" dress a certain way! :)

Ive been to NYC plenty dear Molly. Women are free to wear tight clothes as much as they are free to wear loose clothes. I mean, really, are we so upset that people choose to express themselves in various ways? American women should have the right to wear tight clothes - or not. Do you not agree Molly?

Be real. Women are criticized for their clothing choices regardless. Fashions come and go, and for sure at some point loose and baggy will again be all the rage. I dont really care. Do you?

And Joe, your attempts to de-masculinize me are not effective or funny. Try again, oh feckless one.

  87. Of course American women should have the right to wear tight clothes. But I still don't see how you missed them doing that if you've been here. Many people wanting to compare the two societies bring it up. They are really two extremes: do you want your daughter to feel pressured to wear the hijab or to wear overly sexual clothes. And of course, the answer should be neither. I do see many young teenage girls here wearing clothes that are so sexy they make me cringe. When I was a teenager, no girls dressed like that, or they'd be thought a slut. Now, it's normal.

Someone who based his ignorant opinions of Arabs based on conversations with an American Palestinian girl that went the West Bank two times and was alarmed by the head scarfs.
Someone that has said he Respects Netanyahu more than his own President.
Someone with a blog called "united world for peace" who chose Netanyahu the criminal more than his own President because his President does not speak about engaging in war as much as the Israelis.

I have repeated many times that I am only here for Work until the end of the Summer. I am not staying in this country. So this is not about economics. I am not an immigrant, I am a worker that came here for a Job and when my job ends I will go back to Gazza and not think about staying here for a minute.
When I was told I had to travel for work I had the choice of picking U.K. and U.S. the only reason why I selected the U.S. is because I have one Sister here that I have not seen in many years because the Israeli Nazis that C.H. gets down on his knees to pleasure dont allow people in or out of Gazza.

I wish it was as simple as you make it seem. Sure, I can go there, as you say, but its a very difficult and expensive process. If I could, I would trade passports with Saif so he could stay here, if that's what he wants.

You ignorant lying dog, people are not "going off" on you because you never went to the Middle East people are going of on you because you have Zero knowledge of the Middle East and you talk about educating others and because you offer your silly advice about some things that you have Zero knowledge about.
Because you talk about two sides that can not understand each other while you have said you will take the side of Netanyahu the guy that gets called a Fascist in Israeli press instead of your own President which makes you a traitor and a criminal.
You didnt even sell yourself as a criminal for a moral cause, you sold yourself as a criminal for a racist aparthied country that treats its Arab citizens worse than the way whites in South Africa treated blacks.
Instead of going forward in your evolution or your studies and education you took a giant step backwards to support some thing that is criminal and illegal.

About Mojo, I dont think I ever "attacked" him until he "attacked" me.
It does not matter to me to much what my differences with Mojo are about Iraq.
I have been working with Iraqis that got destroyed by AQI and by American soldiers who waged a war on Iraq based on lies.
I can understand why Mojo feels the way he does about Iraq even if I dont agree with him and I dont make it my business to attack him for all his views because he has the Right to think what he wants.
I dont need you to defend Sunnis, I am Athiest, I dont care what Americans think about Sunnis and if I want to discuss Sunni-Shiite issues with people like Mojo I can do that without needing some dog like you as an "ally" on the internet.
I saw every thing that I needed to see on your blog the last time that I visited it and did a search for Palestine and saw all the garbage anti Palestinian propaganda, racism, hate speech, lies that you are repeating that you learned from Nazi Zionists like Netanyahu. You know Molly, when I was growing up parents railed against hard rock music. There was long hair in the 60's. Its always something.

I reside in a large US city. America is a lot more than LA and NYC. You should try living somewhere outside either of those places before you assume what you see in your neighborhood is reflective of the entire country.

It is possible for a female to NOT wear tight clothes in the US and be accepted byh her peers and desirable by males, for christ's sake. In fact there are many places where tight clothes would be unwelcome, --- and they arent all redneck/backward as you may assume!

  123. I can see that the girls are all wearing prayer garments, not hijab. Such prayer garments are not for going out. In fact they are normally used by girls that like to dress 'immodestly'. They are handy because they can throw them over whatever they normally wear, but only when it is time for them to pray FYI.

So you think of the settlers as a separate entity or organisation from the state of Israel, independent in its decision making and actions?? When in reality they are nothing but an extended arm of theft and murder from the main body of the genocidal state? How are the settlers something to condemn or vilify when they've been brought there and implanted like a knife in the heart of the OT, by the state itself? Who's the planner, the architect and the executioner of the master plan, O asshole? Moldovia?

  137. C.H., you ignorant putz, there is no difficulty more severe than some foreign entity trying to dictate how you should live. Especially one with such malice and colonial hubris.

Nothing "belongs" to the West, they do not own the world, nor can they objectively contribute with hundreds of years of a track record of violence and exploitation. We have an entire truncated record of "experts" in written form that show they are incapable of anything except skewed "knowledge." Even sympathetic romantics, who have lived for years in the ME, have dashed themselves on the rocks of their own misconceptions.

There is more in common with humanity there than one like yourself is willing to conceive of, primarily because individuals like yourself think you can pass judgment on your superiors. Knowing of any region is not an antiseptic scientific endeavor, you cannot merely study pieces and walk away with an entire picture, and your ignorance does not give you the breadth to gasp a whole.

Learning anything at this juncture, will be if done correctly a traumatic experience for you. It will require jerking up the roots of inbred ignorance, and admitting that what you hold dear is not but smoke and mirrors, worthless. If you cannot even perceive what has been foisted on you in your own "homeland," how will you perceive the true picture in a foreign land? It will become an exercise in futility, and require you to dismiss any reality which contradicts your preconceived positions. Rather than making you sympathetic, it will harden you, if you are not willing to toss your profane ideas of what even reality might be.

Well C.H. the only thing I can say to you is that you must think the Arabs are extremely stupid to fall for that ploy again, so how many fucking countries do the U.S. or Israel need to destabilize and how much blood of the brownies should be shed before the Palestinians can get the right to live like free human beings???

Jesus fucking christ man, no wonder you are getting ridiculed by people left and right. It's not just that you're a damn tard it's that you expect everyone else to be a tard to.

  143. Do you sit around rubbing your tiny dick to images of where you wish Israel and the U.S. will wage war next?
Iraq, South Lebanon, Gaza, Iran, Syria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia.

What order do you cum the fastest to?

  144. P.S. Israeli people elected two fascists because Israeli people are diseased and continue to cling to their desire to continue illegally occupying and oppressing the native Palestinians. Since the Israeli people aren't really paying for those wars out of their own pockets because they have Daddy Sam to foot their bills they haven't been compelled to put an end to the criminal occupation. Eventually those fuckers will have to start paying for their share of their criminal activities and then perhaps we might see a higher percent of Israeli Jews that are opposed to the occupation, clearly appealing to their humanity is not working since they don't appear to have any.

I'm shaking my head with disbelief C.H.
I wasn't far off calling you Baby Blue!
Don't you think its the other way round? That it could be the Arabs who are concerned about their security, Israel being the one holding the bigger gun? My question still holds:
    ARE YOU THAT DUMB?
    -----------
they are alarmed by the rhetoric coming out of Gaza City, Damascus, Khartoum, Tehran, and other cities.
    -----------
rhetoric , you said??Ha ha! Yeah rhetoric, (if true) kills, doesn't it? How many divisions when the Israelis have already, without any rhetoric etnic cleansed Palestine and are in possession of 92% of historic Palestine..Are you kidding me?

  147. There are two points that have been missed in this discussion, perhaps because they are so obvious.

First, in the United States we have sexist social norms about dress that are backed up by the force of law. I am talking about the fact that even on the hottest day of the year, if a woman went outside without a top on, she would be harassed by the public and arrested. She would definitely stop traffic and possibly cause a riot. But most women would not even considering going out in public topless because they are from this culture. Someone from the Pacific Islands may find this odd, but it is doubtful that they would try to change us.

    2. In all the time I have been visiting this blog, I can really think of only two times when United States culture was attacked when it didn't involve our tendency to intervene in other countries. Saif criticized our pastries and a long time ago Moyhabin commented that he lived here for a while and didn't like it. The criticism about the United States is usually along the lines of, "Stop killing us. Stop torturing us. Stop arming regimes to oppress us. And stop stealing our stuff."

I have a policy of never visiting an unlike minded people's sites. Never! Not worth a click or a hit in my book! I made an exception for mojo because he was making a clear effort to advocate the Palestinian cause.. But no thanks. I'm not like you people who thrive on invading other people's sites to convert them to your enlightened views. I have priciples!

Why are supporting ethnic cleansing in Palestine?
    C.H
Why are you condoning silent genocide in the occupied territories and Gaza?
    C.H
Why are befriending people like Maury who uses Neo Nazi literature to vilify and slander the Arabs?
Why are you friend with the filthy Zionist David All and SAton, two abject twits who think nothing of the suffering of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians losing their homeland as we speak?
    C.H
Why the hell do you think you can lecture us on what's good and what's bad about a country and a region where you never put a foot before, you arrogant brainwashed American prick?

  152. Wow. This thread is out of control. What is the use in fighting.

For the record, I like Maury. He supports clean technology and CO2 emission reduction.

I also like Aton. Aton wrote: "F$ck the Settlers, F$ck Hamas" He hasn't apologized for Israel. He is free to disagree with Hamas if he wants to.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Akhi TGIA, Maury and Aton are not on Israel's side or Palestine's side. Their view is pox on both houses; America should stay way from both.

I genuinely believe that both have no malice for Palestine.

Is it fair for the friends of Palestine to expect everyone in the world to help Palestine? Is everyone who does not help Israel against Palestine; but doesn't want to be involved evil?

Perhaps gently trying to win them over to the Palestinian cause (the way Mojo, Molly, TGIA, VZA and some others have tried to do with me) is more productive.

  156. Your friend anand, wrote a comment that I'll let you ponder. He thinks the Israelis are not to blame for the fate of the Palestinians. "They brought on themselves"(word for word). They never wanted peace and got what they asked for! You can take your friend and throw water balloon at each other because you deserve each other!

  157. Guess who wrote this anand:

"Palestinians brought it all on themselves. Instead of opting for peace, they've been at war with Israel for 60 years. Contrast their "plight" with that of Palestinians who became Israeli citizens. 25% of Israels population accepted the State's right to exist and are doing just fine. They're doing better than 90% of Arabs living in Arab countries. After having all of his demands met,Arafart walked away from Camp David without an agreement. He knew Palestinians would never accept peace with Israel."
Yes your friend with whom you like to didcuss clean technology. A sick MF that you find very funny!

I didn't know. I strongly disagree with Maury about what he wrote above. I'll yell at him about it at Mojo's blog. Maury and I have had fights before. You should have seen some of the stuff he previously said about the Iraqi Army (before they were as capable as they have now become), about India, and many other issues. I know Maury is inappropriate and acerbic at time.

"Maybe Maury loves the beach. I love the beach too but I'm not going to be friends with him because of that. Think about it!" Good point.

I care about many issues including Africa, global poverty, CO2 emissions, Congo, Zimbabwe, Palestine.

I really admire and respect you for caring so much about Palestine. I also respect others who care about other issues more than they care about Palestine.

    Religious beliefs are a personal journey...no one should have any religion forced on them. {I am not saying that is the case in this picture}
    And in another comment:
{I really hope not, but you never know. Hopefully this is there decision} and if that is the case, God bless them :)

  161. "I really admire and respect you for caring so much about Palestine. I also respect others who care about other issues more than they care about Palestine." Anand ass

Listen you little creep, the question is not whether you care for one cause more than another, it is with all of the evidence in you choose to support a fascist tyranny like Israel in contradiction to all law. So you better get it straight little ass, you fucking asshole verbal gyrations do not wash here! Do you understand? Maury the mental retard did not merely say he did not care for the Palestinian issue, he sided with murderous illegal colonial occupation. Get it straight prick, no one is going to put up with your nonsense any longer.

  162. When I looked at this picture I saw real peace and serenity...

It reminded me of when I lived in Lebanon and was able to enjoy how beautiful the land is in the springtime. I always long for being in Lebanon in the Spring. The summers are often too hot, humid, and miserable for my liking, although if you can go to the beaches or rivers it can be enjoyable.

I happen to be a covered woman, and although I do not necessarily like being covered in the summer, I prefer covering over exposing myself to every man I come in contact with or on the street....If you have a decent air conditioning in your car and at home it makes it easier to cover in the hot summer days.

Although I did not read all of the comments, I found many of them to be of an ignorant nature...

I liked Joe's response, "How do you feel about breast implants, high heels, make up, tight clothes, and other things American women endure to be accepted into our culture here...." to those ignorant comments. And I also liked Molly's responses as well.

I see that Mojo's groupies club is spending time here probably with the goal of trying to ultimately convince you all of the futility of resistance to a U.S./Israel agenda for the Middle East region. I am sure that you probably already know this.

And they are not as nice or understanding as they try to make themselves look, as I have had lots of experience with them when I used to participate on Mojo's blog. They liked teaming up and attacking pro-legitimate resistance people such as myself...

The major line of division in the Middle East region is between the legitimate pro-resistance movements under the support of Syria and Iran, and the anti-resistance camp made up of moderate (so-called by the West) leaders which are also being supported by the West and Israel. And those who are in the anti-resistance camp have been trying to foment Shia and Sunni conflicts throughout the region, as well as conflicts between the different Islamist and secularist groups...

Al Qaeda is basically serving the agenda of the pro-Western camp in prolonging the so-called War on Terrorism....
