Why the Goldstone report was rejected by the US

Firstly, if Israel is guilty of committing systematic war crimes across Gaza and the West Bank, then the US, which supported, funded and armed Israel during the war, is an accessory to those crimes.

    Absolutely. Dennis Kucinich has been trying for years to stop our welfare checks and arms sales to Israel on the grounds that they violate a law that prohibits the against the use of such resources for illegal acts or terrorism. Naturally, it's a futile battle (but good on him for bringing it).

    It's the same reason Obama's Justice Department is in such a panic to stop the prosecutions of torture advocates and war criminals like John Yoo--they know that to allow that would be to blow the doors right off the secret cave where all the other perpetrators are hiding:

    In their appeal to the Ninth Circuit Court, Yoo's lawyers declared that a lawsuit against him by convicted terrorist supporter Jose Padilla could "open the floodgates to politically motivated lawsuits" against government officials, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Wednesday.
