What's going on around here?

This photo deserves a caption contest. The photographer says it’s a man dressed as a Roman gladiator during celebrations for the birth of Rome. But they weren’t around in the days of Romulus & Remus. And since when did gladiators wear steel-toed leather boots or look for glory in a port-o-potty! Something else is going on here. You can tell the guys looking on think something’s fishy too.
