How to hide crimes by language

An Afghan girl practices walking in her new prosthetic legs at the Orthopedic Center run by the International Committee of the Red Cross in Kabul, which provides free prosthetics to 6,000 new Afghan amputees every year. The original Reuters caption to this photo says 1,000 of these amputees are “direct victims of war...wounded by the heightened potency of bombs”. Don’t you just love how they play with the ugly truths of US-NATO occupation!? Did the other 5,000 amputees lose their limbs as indirect victims of war? What are the indirect ways of blowing people’s limbs off? Does “indirect” mean their limbs weren’t bombed off but lost when they stepped on land mines or shot off? Is “indirect” something like “collateral damage”? Is this what the US has in mind when it talks about emancipating Afghan women from Taliban tyranny? Demand the immediate, unconditional withdrawal of all US-NATO troops. And demand compensation to every single one of the victims--direct & indirect--of US-NATO military aggression.
