Obama reaffirms 'strong commitment' to Israel's security

  1. I disagree. I think every country should publicly reaffirm a strong commitment to Israel's security including Palestine.

However at the same time, we should also advocate for the rights and freedom of the Palestinians.

All of us need to both simultaneously.

  3. Just the other day there was a post announcing an historic State Department report criticizing Israel's human rights. So which one is it? Maybe it's just that they are always issuing statements or tweaking policy depending on the day's situation and what they say doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot. I mean, for as long as I remember, there have been all kinds of carefully worded government statements-often accompianed by "historic" handshakes, but things on the ground roll along on the same course.

  4. <span>Well joe, I'd hate to say this but many here said that Obama or not it's not going to make any difference. Others suggested that we're cynical and we should just cheer up a bit, give the guy a chance and enjoy the ride..and here we are now and i don't  believe there are many in the Arab world or elsewhere for that matter who would believe anything this frigging poseur says or promises...Didn't take time did it?

  5. TGIA, Israelis feel a paranoia that Palestinians and Arabs want to hurt them or destroy Israel.

Publicly reaffirming a 'strong commitment' to Israel's security while simultaneously demanding freedom and justice for Palestinians is one way to do this.
