This photo is from last March 30th; Israeli border police are pepper spraying an injured Palestinian protester outside Damascus Gate in East Jerusalem during Land Day protests. Land Day protests are held every year by Palestinians to commemorate the killing of six Arabs by the Israeli military in 1976 during protests against Israeli land confiscations in the Galilee region. The original caption to this photo said protesters threw stones at the Israeli cops who then responded with tear gas & pepper spray but most likely it was the other way around. The man in this photos was sprayed deliberately in the face & then arrested. It isn’t known if he remains in the Israeli gulag. (The photo by Ammar Awad was chosen for Reuters Best Photos of the Year 2012)
