"Burkini"(Islamic swim suit) banned!

A FRESH storm broke out over Islamic dress yesterday after a Muslim woman was banned from wearing a "burkini" at a public pool.
---------
Could they still use Tahini as sun screen?

And here:
Paris Pool Denies Muslim Woman For Wearing Burqini
A Paris swimming pool has refused to allow a young Muslim woman to swim after she tried to enter while wearing a burqini, a full body covering that resembles a wet-suit with built-in hood, AFP reports. The burqini is made for Muslim women who want to swim and keep their body covered.

On a different note.. My son on a trip to France with his mum was not allowed to swim at a pool with his (Australian) swimming shorts/truncs.."Non reglementaire!! "(not regulated) his mum was told!!!

  1. It has to do with hygiene and safety. Loose clothing harbors more germs and there is a concern that clothing can be sucked into the pump underwater. This is what I have been told by people who live there.

  2. This too, is the reason my wife was given for refusing the kid..Also in France, unlike in Australia for example, before you get into the pool you have to pass by a shower first..

  3. The French worried about hygiene? Now that's funny.

  4. I know you're joking joe, but that's an awful stereotype about the French..Honestly apart from the dogs who used to be allowed to crap in the streets, I haven't noticed a problem of hyiegene on a national level. On an individual basis, all I can say is that my wife and my brother's wife are both French and they're both irritatingly housecleaning MANIACS!

Another  stereotype about the French propagated in the US is that they surrender in wars because they're cowards! This because they refused to follow the US in its invasion of Iraq...France, not that I want to defend it's historical and atrocious colonial record, had more wars and battles than any other country in Europe!! They lost some but won an awful lot too...
Stereotypes generally are all awful..Like, the Brits are "whining poms", the German, arrogant the Belgians are slow, the Polish/Irish are either stupid or whatever!! Ridiculous!

  6. US General George S. Patton said, in WWII: "I'd rather have a German division in FRONT of me than a French division BEHIND me." :)

Long before the French wimped out of Iraq, TGIA

  7. Actually TGIA, French are percieved as good warriors in the US.

Italians are precieved as wimps everywhere in the world. This has been reinforced in recent times by:
-The Italians troops running away from the Pakistanis troops they were suppose to protect in 1993 in Somalia. 24 Pakistanis died in that engagement, which began the UN-Aideed war.
-Italy letting the situation in the West of Afghanistan deteriorate recently (Italians, Spanish and Lituanians, and the 207th ANA Corps that they train and mentor are responsible for the West.)

However, the Italians did a pretty good job in Iraq. Italy still is the lead nation for training the Iraqi Federal Police, and is doing a very good job based on all information that I have seen.

  8. Flemming, yes, Americans bashed France for losing in 1940. But after that the French have proven pretty good. The French have performed well in Afghanistan, as have the French trained ANA. France is one of the few countries willing to send its troops to the most dangerous parts of Afghanistan, and to send small teams of advisors to embedd with the ANA and Afghan National Police (ANP) in the most dangerous places.

France fought well in 1991 in Iraq. France fought well in the 1999 Kosovo war.

I think the French quietly have trainers in Iraq under Italian command that train the Iraqi Federal Police. They seem to be doing a good job at that too.

  9. All that business about the French surrendering stems from how quickly they were defeated by the Germans. That was the decision of their politicians and commanders, NOT the average soldier! The Free French fought bravely and tenaciously with the American 7th Army during World War II. Many French pilots who escaped joined the RAF and served brilliantly and courageously. The French Underground helped over 4,000 American airmen and parachutists escape. None of this could have been done by a bunch of cowards.

  11. <span>But  fleming, I too would rather be behind than in front of a well documented psychopath like Patton ..

  12. I totally expect that from you tgia.  The truth is, I dont care what you "read" in your grotesquely biased, uber leftist rags.  Its all garbage.  And as far as what you've "heard", among the people you must hang with, Im not surprised one bit.  Ultimately, we dont care what you and your ilk think of us.  It matters not a whit.

FYI, where I live, in a major southeastern US city, is considered to be a "black mecca" here in the US.  Oh well, so much for your "sources".

You will notice that I live where I grew up and have family heritage. YOU DO NOT.  And, as I have lived here for 80% of my life, I would say my knowledge on the subject is 1000 times better than yours.

You didnt even get the humor of that line, did you?  Patton won battles.  That is what Generals are supposed to do.  War is not nice.  Or didnt the French tell you that?
