'Atlantic Monthly’ extols ‘righteous Jewish violence’ in Palestine

Jeffrey Goldberg on seeing Inglourious Basterds:

"When I came out of the screening room the night before our interview [with director Quentin Tarantino], I was so hopped up on righteous Jewish violence that I was almost ready to settle the West Bank—and possibly the East Bank."

  1. I don't like Tarantino, anyway.  I think Goldberg was trying to satirize Zionists.

  2. I have to confess that I couldn't finish the article..I felt nauseated..From Tarantino to Goldberg all the way to the scum understanding and justifying  "Jewish empowerment"..That they conveniently omit to mention how this empowerment is applied is nausearting!!
Tarantino, never been a fan and it's unlikely that I'll ever be one...

  3. Well, I did finish the article and it clearly shows that later Goldberg rejects that feeling. Mondoweiss selectively pulled the quote to support his point.

  4. Weiss left out this part.

But when my blood cooled, I began to think about the morality of kosher porn in the context of current Middle East politics. Some of this was informed by my own experience in the Israeli army, in which I saw my fellow Jewish soldiers do moral things—such as risking their lives to prevent the murder of innocent Jews—as well as immoral things, like beating the hell out of Palestinians because they could.
