Food production will have to increase by 70% over the next 40 years to feed the world's growing population,

The Food and Agricultural Organisation says if more land is not used for food production now, 370 million people could be facing famine by 2050.

  1. While this may be true, be careful.  It is a common argument used by big agro multinationals to justify their huge subsidies and so called "free trade" imperialism.  (and I am not just referring to western country firms).

  2. Mara, productivity will cause food production to skyrocket. Its the power of compound interest. The major challenge will be low food prices caused by improved technology.
