Remember the original Telegraph story - A London-based expert on Iranian Jewry said that "jian" ending to the name specifically showed the family had been practising Jews. "He has changed his name for religious reasons, or at least his parents had," said the Iranian-born Jew living in London. "Sabourjian is well known Jewish name in Iran."
What a pity that this expert wasn't named. We can't expose him/her for the charlatan that he/she is. The Telegraph has always been a right-wing paper, but formerly it was one that didn't mess with the facts, and people who didn't agree with its politics read it. Recently rubbish of this sort has been appearing on its pages. It appears to be sinking to the Murdoch level.
Out of curiosity I just googled 'Telegraph' and 'downmarket' and found this snippet -
"They've tried turning it into the Mail, now the Telegraph is going downmarket instead. Former Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie was offered a lucrative contract to write for the comment pages. Sadly, he has refused as he's still tied to The Sun, where he writes a column. Next on Will Lewis's shopping list is MacKenzie's mate and former Sun colleague Nick Ferrari, who happily said yes and penned his first piece last week. Ferrari is perhaps best known for inventing topless darts."
The Mail is the paper of choice for middle class racists, and Mckenzie is the proudly racist, sexist and homophobic ex-editor of the Sun, a sort of Bill O'Reilly but with less charm.

Funny. English are much poorer and worse educated than Americans. How is Britain's silicon valley doing? Wait, Britain doesn't have one. Britain's tech sector moved to America in the late 1700s. Not moved back yet.
India has Bangalore, Hyderbad, Pune, and Mumbai (major global tech and economic centers.) China has even more major tech and economic centers than India. What does Britain have? How the empire has fallen.
"How is Britain's silicon valley doing? Wait, Britain doesn't have one." You're half right, bahinchot, which makes a change from your usual position, i.e., all at sea (beware the Kala Pani!). Britain has a silicon glen, indicating it's location in Scotland, i.e., in Britain. England and Britain are not the same my simple chela, though Enbland is part of Britain. All Bilayuti to you, eh, "B.A. Calcutta (failed)".
India does have some amazing tech call centers. That is really where they excel. Gosh, the joy of calling people to sell them ads in the antiquated yellow pages under false surnames like "Bob" and "Sally".
Most of India is still stuck firmly in the past of 1,000 years ago, with no real hope of advance. Poor anan, he hates the Brits for what they "did to his peeps".

Yea bet Jemmy. I love that old flatulent queen Vidal.haha.
ReplyDeleteWhat a preening gassbag of nothingness, totally irrelevant to 99% of americans.
A more apt question: Does anyone care what Gore Vidal thinks
