This attack and others appear to be in response to the recent killings of Israeli soldiers in the West Bank.
The group of settlers – calling themselves “The redemption
of Zion” – spray-painted graffiti mosque wall. The message was
ostensibly in revenge for the death of Tomar Hazan, an Israeli soldier
killed in the West Bank city of Qalqiliya in late September of this
year.
