  1. Turkey has been struggling to get closer to the West since 1924 but has seen the door shut in its face time after time. The current crisis with the US blindly backing Israel is pushing it to give up and look in the other direction and will be the loss of a valuable ally to the West. In the last year alone, Turkey's new (free) trade agreement with Syria has skyrocketted trade and tourism between the 2 countries and it's about to conclude similar agreements with Iran which would create a sort of common market between Turkey, Iran, Syria, Lebanon and with word that Jordan may be jumping in. Lebanon has been welcomed into these new groupies but its still wobbling along trying to catch up with these fast changes happening all around it. If Turkey moves completely away from the US, the biggest loser would be Israel but I think the US hasn't understood this. There is more than a simple Israeli apology at stake here.

  2. Turkey is playing its cards very well  compensating for the rejection it has faced from the EU..With a new occupied rank in the Middle Estern pecking order it's going to be difficult of Europe to snub it as they used to..New found charms will be hard to resist..

  4. It's sad , other arab countries namely the Gulf countries and Egypt are still having their beauty sleep.

  5. Sad to see Turks and Iranians that aren't Arabs bending backwards to help the Palestinians while those others are either getting their beauty sleep or actually siding with the bad guys.

  6. TGIA, I think the relationship between the Turks and the EU will continue to drift apart because of all the brouhaha with the  Europeans about Muslims that they feel are intent on swallowing up Europe and to them, Turkey is part of that risk.
