10 Shameless Right-Wing Tributes to Ayn Rand That Should Make Any Sane Person Blush

As the evangelical Right's influence has declined, conservatives are adhering to another religion -- one based on the scribblings of a sociopath.
"Yes, Ayn Rand, author of big books about noble capitalists who triumph over the masses, and tomes of "philosophy" like The Virtue of Selfishness, in which she beat Gordon Gekko to Greed is Good by decades. Rand always seemed like a good fit for conservatives, but until recently their fandom was a love that dared not speak its name -- either out of fear that the born-agains would be alienated by Rand's atheism, or that literate people would giggle at them."

'Rand held up her own meteoric rise from penniless immigrant to wealthy author as a case study of the individualist ethos. "No one helped me," she wrote, "nor did I think at any time that it was anyone's duty to help me."
'But this was false. Rand spent her first months in this country subsisting on loans from relatives in Chicago, which she promised to repay lavishly when she struck it rich. (She reneged, never speaking to her Chicago family again.)'

  3. A question for everyone.

Would would everyone's thoughts be about a joint Israeli/Palestinian Authority/Hamas/Hezbollah relief mission to Pakistan?

Perhaps Israel/PA/Hamas/Hezbollah can create a relief Corps of 30 thousand relief people who travel around the world for natural disasters.

This doesn't mean that the conflict between Israel/PA/Hamas/Hezbollah would stop. the conflict and the relief Corps would co-exist side by side.

What does everyone think about this idea? Mean to propose it at MJT as well.

  8. vaa, similar responses on MJT. Niether Israelis nor LAF, nor Hezbollah, nor Hamas supporters are too hot on the idea.

One commentator said that the greatest likelihood of conflict would be between PA and Hamas relief workers. That might be right. Hezbollah are disciplined. Hamas can threaten to kill supporters that do not abide by the Hudna against Israel.

VAA, don't India and Pakistan cooperate on international missions? Why can't LAF/Hezbollah/Israel/PA/Hamas?
