I knoiw that I have mixed feelings about his speech as I do not feel it was addressing my concerns....

ReplyDeleteAmerica can't abondon it commitment to protect Israel if Israel is attacked any more than America can abondon South Korea, Taiwan, NATO countries, Japan, or other US allies. To do this would be to break America's word to a friend.
However, Obama is clearly taking on Netanyahu and demanding that all settlements be frozen. Obama publicly called for a national unity government between Hamas and Fatah. Aren't these important steps?
Let me parse for you who praised it and who did not like it. Those who are the beneficiaries of the current status quo praised it, and others (the majority) thought it was patently vacuous.

Marion, it is very important to me. I would like an alliance between all nations (including Iran, the West, India, China and Russia) to:
ReplyDelete1) defeat the Takfiri (in case you haven't figured out, this is a priority for me)
2) improve the global economy
3) reduce global poverty
4) reduce global CO2 emissions and other pollution
Marion, I think you want the welfare of the Palestinians, the welfare of Hizbullah, Lebonan and Iran. Is this right? If so, then we share a lot of common objectives.

A two state solution based on 1948 UN partition plan with territory swaps of equal quality?
A two state solution based on 1967 borders with territory swaps of equal quality?
Do you think that Lebonan and Lebanese Shia should treat Lebanese of Palestinian descent better? Do you think the 1948 Palestinian immigrants and their descendents should get:
1) Lebanese citizenship
2) equal economic opportunity as other Lebanese
3) full integration into ethnically mixed Lebanese neighborhoods, schools and businesses
