A Day to Remember

Yesterday, for the first time since its creation, the OAS (Organization of American States), adopted a resolution that was firmly opposed by the US. After a whole day of agitated deliberations, and against the initial opposition by the US State Department represented personally by Hillary Clinton, the OAS decided to eliminate Resolution 6, by which Cuba was expelled from the organization in 1962. One must remember that Cuba was expelled from the OAS because it didn't "conform" to the "Democratic Chart" of the organization, at a time when the most brutal and cruel dictatorships reigned supreme in many Latin American countries, with overt Washington's support.

    Of course, the consideration of the imperial impositions never entered the equation. this is because people are supposed to be willingly enslaved and kiss the shoes of every fascist foot that lands on their soil. The commiseration of the people is a given, it is supposed to be welcomed - all of this is nothing but a reflection of "democracy." My ass

    Just like these reprobates hounded and hunted down Che, so they try to continue in their course.  They cannot stand it when one and many stand up, they want them hunched over and subservient. This is not only aimed at other countries, but they also do it at home - the present debacle they try to use to bow over humanity.  However, they will find that the people everywhere are like a young sapling, and they with snap back with ferocity in the face of their oppressor.  Do you know who your true enemy is?

    Is Cuba the only autocratic sizable country in the Western Hemisphere? If so, shouldn't admission to the OAS be reserved as a carrot for allowing free one person one vote elections?
     
    Cuba has made significant progress in recent years in religious tolerence, free speach, free market reforms, globalization, and some personal freedoms. Why can't Castro take the next step and allow free elections? Why can't they reach out the hand of friendship and invite the 3 million American Cubans home and enourage them to join in Cuba's political process?
     
    Raul and Fidel don't have much longer to live. Don't they want to be remembered for bringing free democracy to Cuba, even if belatedly?

    Actually it was me that made that this comment. So far  I am still going to Saudi, and all I can say is that trying to convince myself it is my destiny has thus far failed.....
     
    I  have recently limited my participation commenting on blogs to Modoweiss's blog since the man made a trip to the Middle East and spent some time in Gaza, but I still did pop in and read from time to time.
     
    Maybe I will get back in the posting mood if I can overcome my depression over moving to Saudi...

    No shadows necessary. Che--and Bolivar, his predecessor--set in motion a chain of events that are being felt in growing force today. Latin America is starting to shake the shackles of empire and it's an amazing triumph.
