Riot cops get paint bombed

Now here’s a thing you just never get tired of seeing. Last year, we saw riot cops drenched in red paint bombs after they attacked a labor protest in Athens, Greece. Protestors in Chile & other Latin American countries use the same defense & although paint bombs are no match for water cannons & tear gas at least it highlights the humiliation in neon. Here riot cops got it handed to them when they attacked protestors at International Workers’ Day/May Day in Bogota, Colombia. As amusing as the paint bombs are, what’s evident around the world is that the democratic right to public protest is being challenged with military force, including all manner of assaultive weapons. This is no laughing matter at all & is a call to arms for those who believe in democracy & that the right to oppose injustice is a human right, not a privilege. (Photo by Jose Miquel Gomez/Reuters)
