They know their priorities!:
"Letter signed by 39 Democrats says Pollard "has served a sufficient time from standpoint of either punishment or deterrence ... In comments at a press conference late Thursday, Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) said he initiated the letter, written in coordination with a broad array of Jewish groups, mostly out of humanitarian concerns for the convicted Israeli spy, imprisoned 25 years, but also as a spur in the peace process."

I cannot read this and remain sane. I could understand it IF Israel made some REAL concessions. But a THREE month freeze?? Sickening.
ReplyDelete<span><span>You're not the only one vza..Many are wondering if truly isn't there something profoundly rotten in the way the US is conducting its foreign policy..but the worst is to come at the end of this 3 months freeze..The US will defy any resolutions or votes against Israel in all international or national instances..Absolutely tied up to the Israeli genocidal machine.. </span></span>
ReplyDelete<span>Any US politicians have humanitarian concerns for Leonard Peltier or Mumia Abu Jamal?</span>
ReplyDeleteHad to google Peltier..I don't trust Wiki but I do read between the lines:
ReplyDeleteLeonard Peltier (born September 12, 1944) is an American activist and member of the American Indian Movement (AIM) who was convicted and sentenced in 1977 to two consecutive terms of life imprisonment for the murder of two Federal Bureau of Investigation agents during a 1975 shootout on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Peltier's indictment is the subject of the 1992 documentary Incident at Oglala, a film by Robert Redford and Michael Apted.
Peltier's supporters present him as a political prisoner, although his murder conviction has survived appeals in various courts. Amnesty International issued this statement: "Although he has not been adopted as a prisoner of conscience, there is concern about the fairness of the proceedings leading to his conviction and it is believed that political factors may have influenced the way the case was prosecuted."<span>[</span>1<span>]</span> Numerous lawsuits have been filed on his behalf but none has succeeded.
Peltier is currently incarcerated at the United States Penitentiary, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. His projected release date is October 11, 2040.<span>[</span>2<span>]</span>
On July 28, 2009, Peltier was granted a full hearing before the United States Parole Commission. On August 21, 2009, US Attorney Drew Wrigley announced that Peltier’s parole request had been denied. Peltier's next scheduled hearing will be in July 2024.<span>[</span>3<span>]</span>
Mumia:
ReplyDeleteMumia Abu-Jamal (born Wesley Cook on April 24, 1954) is an American convicted and sentenced to death for the December 9, 1981 murder of Philadelphia Police officer Daniel Faulkner.<span>[</span>1<span>]</span> He has been described as "perhaps the best known Death-Row prisoner in the world", and his sentence is one of the most debated today.<span>[</span>2<span>]</span>
Before his arrest he was an activist, part-time cab driver, journalist, radio personality, news commentator and broadcaster. He was a member of the Black Panther Party until October 1970.
Since his conviction, his case has received international attention, and he has become a controversial cultural icon. Supporters and opponents disagree on the appropriateness of the death penalty, whether he is guilty, or whether he received a fair trial.<span>[</span>3<span>]</span><span>[</span>4<span>]</span><span>[</span>5<span>]</span> During his imprisonment he has published several books and other commentaries, notably Live from Death Row.
Since 1995, Abu-Jamal, Pennsylvania Department of Corrections #AM8335, has been incarcerated at Pennsylvania's SCI Greene,<span>[</span>6<span>]</span> where most of the state’s capital case inmates are held.<span></span><span></span><span></span><span></span>
