This is the Caroline Glick tv show Latma, a right wing comedy show. There is a segment in it of an "interview" with Obama Saturday Night Live style with a comedian playing Obama and then he breaks into song. I'm sure it is some classic melody I recognize and on the tip of my tongue but can't name (Frank Sinatra I'm almost positive). The lyrics are amazing and provided in the subtitles. The song starts at 2:26 in the video.

Lost in translation - the humour. One thing that does not appear to have a 'right of return' is the celebrated Jewish wit.
ReplyDeleteThe song is called "Love Story" or "Where do I begin?". I think Andy Williams (right wing ratbag) is most closely identified with it.
I still can't figure out why the Israelis hate Obama so much. I mean I can't think of one thing that Obama did against Israel since taking office. Can somebody please find for me just one thing that he ever did against Israel? I would greatly appreciate it, don't give up if it takes a while, I'll be here waiting, I'm a patient man.
ReplyDeleteObama intially demanded an end to settlement building (He later quietly backed down). Israel and its stalwart advocates in the US were aghast and appalled that he had the nerve to even suggest such a thing! That started all the hate.
ReplyDelete:-D How on earth do you know Andy Williams is a right wing ratbag? I never read anything about him these days!
ReplyDeleteHere:
ReplyDeleteCraziest Conservative of the Day: Andy Williams
<span> As the Telegraph is reporting, he recently told the BBC's Radio Times that:</span>
<span><span>Obama is following Marxist theory. He's taken over the banks and the car industry. He wants the country to fail.</span></span>
<span>"Don't like him at all," he also said. "I think he wants to create a socialist country. The people he associates with are very Left-wing. One is registered as a Communist."</span>

ReplyDeleteClip - Andy Williams Sings "The Exodus Song (This Land Is Mine)"
After Williams came out with that tirade all hell broke loose in the UK. He had to do some damage limitation (i.e., grovelling retraction) when he realised his paranoid rant was going to cost him money.
ReplyDeleteIt's overkill, as with the BBC, which is virtually the Voice of Israel in the UK. But their reporters only have to mention Hamas without the requisite "terrorists" and the the hate mail and death threats pour in. Keeps them on their toes.
ReplyDeleteGood grief, I thought he was dead.
ReplyDeleteThat's it, you and Tgia are the go-to-guys for the latest on ratbag stars!
:)
Btw, Tgia, have you seen this?
Italian scientists think they found Caravaggio's bones

Wouldn't you have loved to have seen the special Caravaggio exhibit in Rome?
Italy is currently marking the 400th anniversary of the Baroque master's death with major exhibitions, including one in Rome seen by up to half a million people.

I'll check it out, thanks vza.
ReplyDeleteMy trinity: Vermeer, Caravaggio, Rembrandt..I had wonderful opportunities to see Caravaggio's masterpieces in the Louvres and a couple in Sydney but never a dedicated exhibition to his works.. It's a bummer of course that I'm not able to visit any of those Rome exhibitions..A consolation, though a meager one, I saw his 'David and Goliath' last year in Sydney in an exhibition about Baroque art.
