Zionism: the nationalism of fools became an ideology of apartheid

According to a public survey reported on by Gideon Levy in Haaretz, most Israeli Jews support the establishment of an apartheid regime if Israel formally annexes the West Bank. Two-thirds say Palestinians in the West Bank should be denied the right to vote if annexed, three out of four support segregated roads for Israelis & Palestinians in the West Bank. Nearly six out of ten say Jews should be given preferential treatment over Palestinians in government jobs, 49% say Jews should be treated better than Arabs, 42% do not want to live in the same building as Arabs, & 42% do not want their children going to school with Arabs. Levy comments, “It’s good to live in this country, most Israelis say, not despite its racism, but perhaps because of it.”

In this photo, a Zionist settler, living illegally on stolen Palestinian land, throws wine on a passing Palestinian woman, in Hebron, West Bank. This is the monstrosity created by Zionism, originally the nationalism of fools & now an ideology of apartheid. It was based not just on an attempt to escape anti-Semitic persecution but on the conviction of ethnic superiority. There is no escape from oppression of any kind without human solidarity, without fraternity & sorority between all nationalities. If there is one thing the rancid ideology of Zionism shows us, it is that. That does not mean the oppressed & persecuted defer to the dominant groups to maintain phony harmony; it means engaging in conflict with them to obtain justice. (Photo by Rina Castelnuovo/NYTimes)
