Anger is a legitimate emotion in the face of injustice. Passive acceptance of evil is not a virtue.

No nukes in India!
A fisherman was killed on Monday when cops opened fire on activists protesting against the Russian-built Kudankulam nuclear power plant, India's largest nuclear power project (& only one of several planned). It was due to go into operation last year but after the tsunami hit Japan’s Fukushima nuclear plant Indian protestors surrounded the compound in opposition. Activists know a similar accident could happen in southern India since the region was hard hit by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. The Indian government intends to start operating it within weeks despite the massive opposition. Hundreds of activists have already been arrested & thousands of activists, mainly women & children from fishing villages, were camped on the beach about a mile from the plant in protest. As cops moved against them, protestors waded into the sea or escaped in fishing boats armed only with rocks against live ammo. Here a woman injured in the police assault joins other activists in a moment of silence in tribute to the fisherman; other activists also engaged in a 48-hour hunger strike. As an aside, this is another confirmation that the people running this world are criminally insane. It is additional confirmation that the women & men who oppose them are capable of transforming the world. (Photo by Nathan G./EPA)
