Don't mess with education!

The lesson here is simple: don’t mess with education--or you’ll get a snoot full of war paint & a whole lot of opposition! The right of working people to public & affordable education has always been a political issue. For a brief hiatus, from the 1960s to the 1980s, access to higher education was available to millions more than previously--especially women & oppressed nationalities. But those opportunities have closed down to where once again only the privileged can afford to get schooling. Denial of education has long been not just a political issue but a radicalizing one. Today there are massive protests in countries across the globe from Canada to South Africa to Chile to the US to Spain to Greece to many other countries--all demanding an end to attacks on public & affordable education. This riot cop in Bogota, Colombia faces the wrath of students & teachers protesting attacks on education in that country. Our fullest solidarity with the students & teachers.
