  2. Now CNN is reporting that the army and police are not responding to criminal gangs looting and burning - businesses and homes of Egyptian citizens, and even worse, that the museum(s) are being looted with the army completely standing aside!!!  Also even CNN is reporting that ordinary people plus the Muslim Brotherhood have tried since this whole thing jumped off, to protect the museum.  They report that possibly the looters are in the employ of the government.  It's unbearable to think that these irreplaceable parts of human history are being stolen or destroyed.  If this is true, I hope Mubarak stands trial in Egypt and doesn't get to escape to another country.

  5. “Egyptian citizens tried to prevent them and were joined by the tourism police, but some (looters) managed to enter from above and they destroyed two of the mummies,” he said.

It seems that thugs will always try to take advantage of the situation. I find it hard to believe thast normal citizens would do anything like that. Egyptians are very very proud of their history and cultural heritage.

I have received eyewitness reports from three people that Central Security Forces (the riot control police) are pulling out of multiple locations in Cairo. Plainclothes security has been seen at various locations pouring gasoline on vehicles and setting them on fire, also trying to burn storefronts in the following Downtown Cairo locations:
Falaki SquareOmraneyaNear the American University in Cairo

Earlier in the day, I received an eyewitness report from a friend in Downtown Cairo (near Champollion Street) that policemen were loading vans with clubs, nails, metal bars and other objects that could be used as weapons by Baltaguiya, the hired thugs sometimes used by police to attack protestors.
