The olive's oil has long been considered sacred; it was used to anoint kings and athletes in ancient Greece. The tree and olives are mentioned 30 times in the Bible, New and Old, but what would these refugees from Stalin's prisons know of this.
The olive tree is not of the frozen tundra but the sun baked Holy Land that they covet so badly.

I am presuming he is referring to the settlers? How are they prison scum...or is he just being hyperbolic? Or is he saying they are LIKE prison scum, or were actually prison scum at one time in Eastern Europe, or perhaps should be prison scum?
