" UK economy to drop out of world's top 10"

Britain seems doomed to be relegated from the "premier league" of international economies over the next few years - with serious implications for its diplomatic status and international "clout". Stagnation at home and rapid economic growth in developing economies will push the UK as low as 11th in the global pecking order by 2015, according to analysis by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR).

  1. Could not have happened to a better country,  although it is somewhat predictable.  Now the other shoe is going to drop,  the USA is going to follow in its wake.  I wrote quite some time back that these two were running neck and neck toward disaster,  and what they have in common is continuously less for the people,  and a lot of spending on war -

  2. Let's hope the U.S. takes Israel down with it.

  4. You are an American and you are rooting for its decline?

  6. I don't have to root for the U.S.'s decline. It's already here.

Am I happy about it? No. I want Americans working, and building a green-based economy that is the envy of the world, and returning to its status as a nation of laws, not suffering and not sending its children off to endless war on behalf of Israel and oil corporations.

Unfortunately, the American government doesn't want this, it wants all the bad stuff that we've got, and more war and more poverty and more of a relentless drive back to feudalism. So yes, I do hope that this current incarnation of "America" ends, and that a better one can be built atop its ruins.

  8. Unfortunately, the ruins will fall mainly upon the common people who will be out of work in even larger numbers. Would it not be a bit more wise to wish and work for a reform of our system rather than a decline?
