Bad Day at the Israel-Jordan Border
"We need to ask you some questions," she said. She took me aside. I was so nervous. She clarified my name and email, then she asked me about my time in Beirut. I told her it was a study program, organized by a translation service. She frowned. "Why do you like Arabs?" I didn't know what to say. Is it a crime in Israel to love Arabs? Is it a crime to study Palestinian art?
"Palestinian art?" she said, "like what?" "Lots of stuff," I said, " Plays, movies, books; everywhere, all over the world."
They then took me to an area where they opened up all my luggage. I couldn't help smiling at the fact that they thought they would find something. It was like living in a spy thriller. They tossed all my things in a pile. "Put your things away," he barked, as if I had taken them out. It was humiliating to have to quietly pack my things again, as if apologizing. They made me read the names of all the medicines in my kit and describe what they were for. "Cramps, you know, like a woman's thing?"

I can't help wondering how much shit Israel gives about Americans , the shitheads that carry the banner " Israel our friend " and pay through the teeth in taxes to sustain it. they must like being treated like shit.I know of at least one. :-D

Very touching story.
Yes VAA. I saw that but I only read yasmin's story but dsid not follow the link
ReplyDeleteWe pay through the teeth in taxes to support Israel? HAHAH. Do the math. $4 billion or so is about .3% of the $1.5 trillion collected in taxes every year. A veritable drop in the sand bucket...LOL
ReplyDeleteIn addtion, Israel spends much of that on defense weapons they buy from US companies. Furthermore, they have our back in the middle east, like no other country does. It is a well spent drop in the sand bucket, that is for sure! LOL
"Cramps, you know, like a woman's thing?" Nice post. I feel for this "American." Israel had better start treating Americans better, or else.
ReplyDeleteAlea iacta est!!
ReplyDeleteAs long as the United States’ energy use is dependent on petroleum, the United States will be reliant on Saudi Arabia.
Mara, you mean the world will be reliant on Saudi Arabia. China buys more oil from Saudi Arabia than America does. India is also buying a boat load of oil from Saudi Arabia.
ReplyDeleteWhat we need is a clear statement from the international community that governments will not intervene to hault the rise of oil prices as long as oil prices remain below $200/barrel. Then let the free markets work.
