The head of NATO is up in arms because of “insider attacks” on US-NATO troops in Afghanistan. Afghani army recruits are vetted for links to the Taliban & al-Qaeda (yes, they’re still beating the bushes looking for al-Qaeda in Afghanistan) but the number of Afghani soldiers who open fire on US-NATO troops has been called unprecedented in modern warfare. So far in 2012, there have been 30 incidents with 45 foreign soldiers killed. The US announced they are suspending training for new police recruits & Afghanistan’s defense ministry sacked or arrested hundreds of soldiers who were suspicious. The attacks throw a monkey wrench into the US-NATO withdrawal scenario (which is probably false anyway, judging from Iraq) which includes training Afghani police & military for when foreign troops leave. The Wall Street Journal reported that vetting Afghani army recruits includes asking two members of their community to vouch for them. Does that explain why this man from Nevay-deh, Afghanistan is being so intrusively processed for biodata by a US soldier?
