Ramallah: The Palestinian leadership agreed on Saturday that there will be no recognition of Israel beyond the purview of the 1993 Oslo accords. The unanimous agreement is in response to frequent Israeli demands on Palestinians to recognise it as a Jewish state and aims to leave little room for confusion on the issue. Bassam Al Salihi, Secretary-General of the Palestinian People's Party, told Gulf News that Palestinian concurrence on not recognising Israel as a Jewish state under any circumstances was unshakeable. The Palestinian leadership is in an extended meeting to review prevailing political conditions and available alternatives amid the impasse in direct talks because of Israel's stand, he said.
