A click on the flag counter reveals that since it was set up, merely 5 days ago, a total of 416 unique visitors from 60 countries have been curious enough to have at least one look ..I can't be unhappy with that. Only last week, I had no idea whatsoever that more than 5 or 6 people were interested and was seriously thinking of closing shop...However, I wish people could give some feedback though..There are many ways this blog can be improved on. Suggestions welcome...

Tgia, I recently read that the founder of the BDS movement against Israel, Omar Barghouti, is studying for a PH.D at Tel Aviv University? Isn't that rather weird, or dare I say it, hypocritical?
ReplyDeleteCertainly an eye-opener, TG, you've gone global.
ReplyDeleteI don't see it as hypocritical..Strange maybe, because he advocates academic BDS ..But let's have a look at the context here. Omar is a Ramallah resident in the OT. What are his options to complete his studies..Bir Zeit Uni is the only one available there. Studying in any other country, Arab or foreign, means he'd lose his right to come back to the West Bank. The only other option is in Israel itself but to tell you the truth I don't know how his status as a non Israeli Palestinian is allowing him to do that..I have no details.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I disagree. If he is calling for a boycott of Israeli academic institutions, attending one is surely hypocritical! He is basically saying the the boycott is for thee but not for me.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been able to hang out on the computer lately because all of a sudden my laptop started overheating and shutting itself down all the time, sometimes when I'm in the middle of a comment and over the last month it has got a lot worse. I should be either getting this one repaired or getting a good sturdy desktop this week. I have stuff to say, but the keyboard is burning my fingertips as I type and I want to make sure I get this off.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the art! How about adding other art forms like music & dance?

By the way, it doesn't look like THIS is going anywhere (but then, who knows?)
ReplyDeleteA chance, perhaps, for Uribe to return the favor?
ReplyDeleteBut an Israeli figure familiar with the military aid to Colombia said there was "no need to exaggerate" Israel's involvement in the operation.
The Israelis involved in the operation feel it is important to accord the credit to Colombia. The Israeli activity, involving dozens of Israeli security experts, was coordinated by Global CST, owned by former General Staff operations chief, Brigadier General (res.) Israel Ziv, and Brigadier (res.) Yossi Kuperwasser.
"It's a Colombian Entebbe operation," Ziv said Thursday when he returned from Bogota. "Both regarding its national and international importance. Betancourt has become a symbol of the struggle against international terror. This is an amazing operation that wouldn't shame any army or special forces anywhere in the world."
Asked about the Israeli involvement in it Ziv said there is "no need to exaggerate."
"We don't want to take credit for something we didn't do," a company source said. "We helped them prepare themselves to fight terror. We helped them to plan operations and strategies and develop intelligence sources. That's quite a bit, but shouldn't be taken too far."
Israelis may not have taken part in the rescue, but they advised and guided, sold equipment and intelligence technology.

This is so beautiful ,it makes wonder why I don't listen to music more often.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pitirre
Thanks for the suggestion Pitirre..Music is what I should be bringing in more often...
ReplyDeleteYes it's beautiful . It sounds also familiar as Turkish, Persian and Arab music have common roots.

ReplyDeleteYou want me to worry about "hypocrisy" while the daily destruction of homes and dispossession of land continue as we speak? But why not simply tell us what should Omar do and what are the options he has the luxury to possess because frankly if I were him I wouldn't know what to do..
Hey hey hey!
ReplyDeleteIt's Faaaaat Albert!
TG,
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see the flag count and to see the increased number of people who comment. Keep up the good work, but perhaps with smaller daily posts so that we can follow what you are trying to pay our attention to (you're beginning to be as obsessed as Tony).
Oh, and tell that slacker Molly to help you a little.
