The initiators have achieved something everyone wanted to prevent, and that is to influence and change the relations to Muslims and their social integration in a negative way," Taner Hatipoglu, the president of the Federation of Islamic Organisations in Zurich, said.
This would probably win in many Western countries if people instead of politicians voted, like in Switzerland.
Next stop, demolish church spires, and ban those bloody bells on a Sunday morning.
ReplyDeleteAnd ban all those pesky atheist towers!
ReplyDeleteThat was me. I like church bells, you never hear them in Brooklyn, though. How early do they ring?
ReplyDeleteThe Swiss and all Europeans have a legitimate fear about radical Islamists. I am not so sure banning minarets is the answer. What goes on in some of the mosques is the problem. I rather like minarets if they are architecturally interesting.
ReplyDeleteHowever, not one word of censure should be coming from the Islamic world about this ban. Until the Islamic countries allow Churches to be repaired and built at the same level as mosques...they are in no position to complain about any of it.
Many seem to think like Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In words spoken in 1997, Erdogan made mosque construction seem like part of a strategy of Islamization: "The minarets are our lances, the domes our helmets, the believers our army."

I like boht church bells and the Islamic call to prayer. They both sound nice.
ReplyDeleteI find myself in agreement with vza (I think I'll have to lie down for a while). Didn't the Seal of the Prophets enjoin the faithful to defend churches, synagogues, abbeys, convents, etc., from attack as they were places where the one God was worshipped?
ReplyDeleteI'm only pointing this out to show what a heretical bunch the Wahhabis are. Less prayer and more good works is my recommendation to all religious types.

ReplyDelete:-D Very funny

ReplyDelete:-D Oh, poor guy. It wasn't that painful was it? </span>
Be honest, vza - when you read that I agreed with you didn't you check back over what you'd written to see where you'd gone wrong?
ReplyDelete:-D No, I thought, "What a smart guy!"
ReplyDeleteThen I'll try to do it more often, but no guarantees.
ReplyDelete;)
